~If you are reading this, then realize that you are reading the old "Chapter One" to the old version of "Moment of Darkness." As of this moment, everything is being updated and fixed and the new plot lines are completely different. Thank you all for reading though, :) ~
(This is to make up for not having a post yesterday, part 2 will be out on Friday, I promise)
I huddled in the coldest, dampest part of the basement with a chair and oversized quilt over me. The light that shone from the window illuminated the small figure quite profoundly, and I could barely breath, thinking about what had happened just moments before. Watching the figure toddle about in such an aimless manner made me want to ball up and cry, but I stayed strong, refusing to utter a single sound.

Watching the figure toddle about in such an aimless manner made me want to ball up and cry, but I stayed strong, refusing to utter a single sound.
'Baby Christi, what's wrong with you?' A small, shivering voice murmured inaudibly in my head. The words had almost forced themselves out of my quivering mouth, but I closed my hands over it to wipe away the unthinkable notion. Feeling as though I were swimming in murky water and my eyes were going blurry, I shuffled across the ground, as far away from my little sister as I could get. I winced at the scratching noise I made as I slid, but she didn't. Reacting without thought and driven by immense hunger, my sister clawed through my barricade furiously.
“I'm sorry, Christi,” I whispered, my fingers closing around the edges of a book. My words having reached her, my dead sister stopped and looked at me funny as I twisted and smashed it into her face as hard as humanly possible. I clambered over her and my wrecked obstacle course and back onto a smooth unfinished basement floor.
With the power of adrenaline swimming through my pounding veins, I shook and trembled as I sprinted up the stairs, hoping to avoid running into any other dead family members. I had two siblings that had been attacked by her, and a mother to deal with if they found me. I weaved in and out of the house, and, without incident, found the front door and twisted the knob. Taking a deep breath, I stepped outside.
And was greeted by a lovely, blood-thirsty mob of the undead.
