~If you are reading this, then realize that you are reading the "Chapter Five" for the old version of "Moment of Darkness." As of this moment, everything is being updated and fixed and the new plot lines are completely different. Thank you all for reading though, :) ~
(Savannah's
P.O.V.)
A
haze covered the world, but I was able to peer through it. The world
slowly crystalized, transforming from the mere image of shattered
glass to a condensed, wholesome picture. As the world adjusted
beneath the space I hovered, my eyes wrapped themselves around a
small figure. Though she faced away from me, I caught the perfect
angle of her face, smooth brown hair with a light blond streak, and a
red growth forming on her back. Slowly, the world continued to absorb
everything. It brought the fabrications of my state into a light so I
could observe it with phenomenal lucidity. Slowly, the growths
sprouted into two gnarled wings, each gifted a claw and its highest
point.
The
wings gathered wind beneath them, hissing together with a ghastly
vengeance. With great effort, she tried to propel herself up, but was
forced with a brief moment of exasperation to allow them to rest.
Crestfallen, her head tipped towards the floor with the glummest
expression I've ever seen a child bear. The painted frown haunted me
from beyond the grave, and I could only think of my own little
sister.
The
glass separating the girl from me glowed a foul white, cracks
snapping into it like something were about to burst from the other
side. Growing larger, they began to consume the barrier savagely,
reaching for me as if to devour me whole. The strangest desire filled
my heart at that moment, and to ignore it was unthinkable. Bringing
my hand up, I pushed my hand against the shattering glass. Opposed to
cutting it, my hand went through to another side. A misty humid
breeze consumed it, startling my body into a shiver.
With
my hand passing through the middle of it, the mirror enveloped my
body, spitting me out onto the side my hand was. The small girl's
head snapped up like a sword, red and gleaming. A staggering horror
edged about my heart at that moment as I stared into her eyes. Two
eyes, empty of pupils and ringed with red, pulsing veins glowered
back at me, her mouth twisting into that of a snarl.
The
ledge I stood on allowed me to peer over her, observing her as if she
were an animal. Her wings hissed again, rapidly, zipping harder than
ever before.
Looking for a way out, I peered around the room. A torch was hung down in the spot she huddled below me to give her dim light. The room was a bleak red with brown specked undertones, seeming as though coated in a thick wax. A window open up on the side with a monstrous view of lava streaming down a stony slide made of the same materials as the walls, leading into a pool where skeletons swam.
Eyes lit with a passionate fear, I stumbled backwards, collapsing into nothing. The glass that had first allowed me to enter was gone with no other viable options for escape. Short and to the point – I was trapped, and there was no way around it.

ReplyDeleteIt's Savannah, I know it's a little confusing, but I'm posting the rest of the chapter right now. Forgive me, it's really short. >.<
